You’ve been led to believe body stiffness is just part of the aging process.
But the reality is, it has nothing to do with how old you are.
Many of my male patients – ranging from young adults to seniors – complain of muscle aches and pains. And most of the time, it’s not because they’re suffering from arthritis, muscle tears or overexertion.
Usually the aches and pains are from my patients being out of shape or doing the wrong exercises – because that’s what modern medical and fitness “experts” recommend they do.
Not to mention many doctors prescribe habit-forming pain killers, anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants that just mask the symptoms instead of solve the problem.
You have to get to the core of the problem. And fix it.
The best way to do this is to exercise... but probably not in the way you’re thinking. I’m not talking about pumping iron at the gym or running yourself ragged on the treadmill.
I’m talking about a far more effective exercise option... stretching.
Just a few high-impact stretching exercises can:
- Enhance your current level of flexibility;
- Give you more energy and stamina;
- Loosen your core, realign your spine and help stop back pain;
- Make your shoulders more flexible;
- And more.
This type of stretching is called active stretching.
Active stretching uses a group of muscles to stretch out another group of muscles. For instance, when you lift your leg up in the air, you’re using your quad muscles. But your hamstrings and calf muscles are the muscles actually stretching.
My favorite form of active stretching is called dynamic stretching.
Dynamic stretching combines deep breathing with stretches that address multiple areas of your body at the same time. This not only makes you more flexible, it also makes your body stronger and helps eliminate muscle pain.
The best dynamic stretching program I know of is Matt Furey’s Combat Stretching.
Matt is a former champion wrestler who won an NCAA title in 1985. He’s also the creator of a dynamic stretching program being used by the toughest wrestlers and athletes in Asia to maintain strength and flexibility... and prevent injuries.
Matt’s program consists of about 20 dynamic stretches that many people in the United States have never seen or done before.
These dynamic stretches increase flexibility through movement, hitting all the major muscle groups and joints. Not only do they make you more flexible, but they also give you more energy and more stamina.
